What you'll be doing

The Donation Specialist – Medical is responsible and accountable for the introduction and maintenance of processes that will optimise organ and tissue donation for transplantation. This role is responsible for systems that will ensure:

  • All potential deceased donors are identified and evaluated within SCHN and the opportunity for donation is offered to all potential donors.
  • Integrated management of the Network donation process to assure quality and national consistency of all procedures from donor identification to organ retrieval, including donor family follow up and support.

Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.

Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award

The award of the academic title will also confer membership upon the appointee of the University Department of Paediatrics and Child Health. The academic title will be held for the duration of The Children's Hospital at Westmead appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to The Children's Hospital at Westmead for clinical matters.
