Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioner for the above position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be located at Lithgow Hospital within the Department of General Practice Visiting Medical Officer with Obstetrics. “Applications are invited from medical officers who are eligible to apply for fellowship as per the requirements as set out in the RACGP and ACRRM Fellowship regulations by closing date of this advertisement

Successful applicants will be responsible for assessment, investigation and appropriate care of patients in Lithgow Hospital.

This position is Fee for Service, and involves on call roster. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Agencies need not apply

  1. Possess or be eligible for full registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997.
  3. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring / audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position
  4. Sound clinical knowledge of General Practice demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
  5. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
  7. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
