Medical Receptionist for Allied Health Centre - Part Time
Job Type: Medical Reception Salary Package: $45,000 - $50,000 pro rata
Location: Newcastle Start Date: March 2021
Brief:
HelpStreet Health Centre is a dynamic allied health private practice based in a busy Jesmond Shopping Centre. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated Medical Receptionists interested in joining our diverse and growing team. This role will be a part time position providing administrative services to our private practice. It will provide opportunities to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as independently.
In this clinic-based role, you will be responsible for providing professional reception services to members of the community, medical practitioners and other staff. This position will require a high level of organisation skill, exceptional time management abilities and good communication skills.

Job Description:
This role includes all aspects of managing and delivering a high standard reception service in an allied health centre setting. Daily tasks include:
- Processing payments and utilisation of HICAPS.
- Processing Medicare and DVA claims.
- Assisting Practice Manager in building and maintaining our referral and patient bases.
- Communication via the telephone and email with patients, staff and referrers.
- Use of Cliniko to maintain patient database and files.
- Ensure the centre is kept in a clean and tidy state, providing general housekeeping duties as required, and ensuring there is an adequate supply of consumables in the treatment rooms.
- Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff at the centre.
- Cash handling, daily reconciliation of finances and daily banking as required.
- Invoicing and providing receipts to patients and other necessary parties.
- Filing, general administration and other additional duties appropriate to your role as requested by practitioners or head office.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, emails and faxes.
- Delivering advertising material around the centre. (sandwich boards).
- Autoclave / Sterilisation of clinical equipment.
- Management of patients via Cliniko including scheduling, cancelling and rescheduling of appointments.
- Strong communication and administration skills.
- Experience in Medicare and DVA claiming, or ability to learn.
- Experience using HICAPS and EFTPOS machines, or ability to learn.
- Is positive, reliable and responsible.
- Has the ability to work effectively, either autonomously or within a team.
- Has a bright, caring personality, and a polite phone manner.
