New World Management has been engaged to source a talented Test Engineer to undertake a 12 month engagement with our global client.

We are looking for a customer-focused Test Engineer that will collaborate with product owners, developers, and end users throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure that the product meets both customer-stated requirements and additional quality requirements.

This is an Engineering oriented role and will require hands-on skills with scripting and innovative approaches to ensure that testing is an automated process. The right candidate will have extensive experience with QA best practices and QA-related functions; including, but not limited to vetting requirements; creating test plans, test data and test cases; executing test cases; creating automation scripts and reviewing regression results to quickly determine if our products are ready for market. The Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that tests run in an automated manner as much as possible but may also be required to undertake some manual testing. The Test Engineer looks first to automate and improve any steps where it makes sense.

The role will require you to be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Self-starter able to proactively solve problems and work without much supervision
  • Advocates on behalf of the customer when assessing product quality and code quality
  • Drives collaborative discussions to promote understanding of product quality
  • Defines and executes hypothesis-driven tests, analyses results, and communicates findings to team
  • Pairs with developers to develop and review code
  • Work with developers to integrate unit tests with end-to-end test environment
  • Continuously working with Developers to achieve a high-level of code coverage
  • Validates functionalities in sprints, both manually and leveraging automation
  • Assists in problem-solving code and product impediments
  • Collaborates with Product Owners to define acceptance tests, and "Done" criteria
  • Provide testing, validation, and sign-off for software product development and release readiness (covering both the product release cadence and the Agile sprint cadence)
  • Recognize process deficiencies and propose improvements

Ideally, you background and skils will cover the following:

  • Experience with test automation
  • Experience with exploratory testing and hypothesis testing
  • Required / Desired Expertise in test-oriented development, including:
    • TDD and/or BDD principles
    • API testing (REST and GraphQL)
    • Continuous Integration pipelines and automation of test runners (Buildkite or equivalent)
    • Tools including Browserstack, Applitools, Jest, Jasmine, Cucumber, Selenium Webdriver
    • Hands-on JavaScript, React (TypeScript), Node, PostgreSQL, AWS
