In this role, you will establish and build strong working relationships with internal and external agencies to improve employment and training outcomes for school students and school leavers within their senior phase of learning. The successful candidate will provide transition support and financial administration services to support the activities of the Youth Engagement hubs.

Your Opportunity

In this role, you will undertake administration and client service duties to support the activities of the Youth Engagement Hub - Student Engagement Team in Department of Education regional office, Townsville.

You will be required to work with families in relation to disengaged young people to work towards re-engaging them in an appropriate education, training or employment option.

Families will include those from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linquistically Diverse backgrounds.

Your Role

As the Transition Support Officer you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Proactively contribute as a team member to undertake a range of tasks to provide a comprehensive and continual service to internal and external clients, and achieve quality outcomes and performance benchmarks in accordance with the Youth Engagement strategy.
  • Provide individual support, case management and, where appropriate, group support to students to maximisetheir engagement with education and training.
  • Undertake activities and assist in the implementation of initiatives, policies and systems which support apprenticeships and traineeship training and the vocational sector in Queensland.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships and referrals with internal and external agencies.
  • Inform and educate parents, community members and students on relevant issues that may be impacting student engagement and build strong working relationships with school support teams.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring activities and in payments control.
  • Create and maintain accurate training records to meet audit and departmental requirements.
  • Assist in resource planning for venues, including coordination of equipment and ancillary services.
  • Provide administrative support to the Youth Engagement team, maintaining training timetable, staff induction and training, website maintenance and other written correspondence to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain a reporting framework and report on the progress of identified ‘at risk' students to individual school principals or their nominee as well as reporting to relevant regional personnel and a Cluster Governance Body.
When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
