Talent is a peer business unit to People, comprising of Talent Management, Leadership, Alumni and Talent Acquisition. The Research Specialist (RS) will work closely with Sourcing Specialists (SS), General Manager (GM), Talent and Executive Manager (EM), Talent Acquisition to support the search and identification of niche or senior talent across all business units. In addition, the RS will create detailed, validated market mapping for discussion at Board and executive meetings and research the market by industry and discipline, identifying market trends and candidates of interest to CSIRO.

Your duties will include:
  • Utilising social media networks (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter) to identify and connect with candidate pools and understand the global and national science industry competitor environment
  • Growing and maintaining candidate talent pools via Success Factors and Linked In and collaborate with EM in evolving talent pools in line with CSIRO requirements
  • Reviewing candidate profiles and work with SS to screen for skills, cultural alignment with CSIRO, salary expectations and suitability for future opportunities at executive level
  • Collating and analysing talent pool current employers, salary packages and incentives, providing relevant data to GM and executive on market trends and gaps for CSIRO to evaluate and address
  • Completing 6 and 12-month competitor analysis by CSIRO business unit and niche skills to benchmark CSIRO and advise GM and EM on emerging and declining trends, industries and predictions for up to 6 months
  • Preparing high quality and informative market mapping presentations for hiring managers and executive with clear recommendations and cost benefit scenarios for CSIRO
  • Identifying new and emerging global and national candidate channels aligned to CSIRO Corporate Plan and research requirements
  • Collaborating with Manager, Alumni to map alumni employers and roles, communicate current and future career opportunities and events
  • Understanding KPIs and seek support and information to meet and exceed minimum targets
  • Participating in online and in person recruitment forums and events to promote CSIRO employment profile to candidates and the talent acquisition community

To be considered you will need:
  • Demonstrated experience in previous executive research, search or market research role, ideally within government, science, research or IT sectors
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, advanced MS Office suite proficiency and high level of ability in presenting data analysis to executive level stakeholders and participating in question and answer sessions relating to search findings
  • High level of technical skill with sourcing channels including but not limited to Linked In, associations and membership forums, global job boards, talent and search agencies, referral networks, alumni, industry events and university campus teams from undergraduate to post-doctoral level
  • Highly organised with high level of attention to detail, ability to manage multiple streams of work and manage expectations of GM, EM and People Business Partners
  • Demonstrated and proactive, solutions focused approach to managing individual and team contribution, with specific emphasis on alignment with CSIRO Talent guiding principles of being visible, easy to do business with, accountable, curious and collaborative
