Manager of Counselling - Located in the Whitsundays

The Manager of Counselling oversees support services & Counselling for those who have experienced or who have been effected by domestic and family violence, sexual violence and other traumatic events.

The Organisation:

Our customer is a leading organisation in the Whitsundays whose mission is to work towards the prevention and reduction of violence in the community through professional support services assisting women, children, young people and families who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or are at risk of neglect or abuse.

The Role:

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Clinical Lead Practitioner to support the provision and implementation of trauma informed counselling to adults who have been effected by domestic and family violence, sexual violence and other traumatic experiences.

The Clinical Lead Practitioner will ensure staff are operating within relevant associated legislation related to domestic violence, sexual assault and child protection whilst working within a long term therapeutic framework to provide on going support to enable the client to process traumatic experiences and engage in ongoing recovery from the impacts of domestic and family violence and sexual assault.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage and empower clients to be able to process trauma and provide ongoing counselling through one-on-one sessions as well as group sessions to provide the support the clients need to rebuild their lives.
  • Provide support and leadership to the clinical team to ensure service delivery whilst maintaining organisational objectives and clients needs.
  • Promote a strengths based and solution focused service based on genuine engagement, respect resulting in practical outcomes for the clients.
  • Support the delivery of therapeutic client- centered case management for women, children and young people affected by trauma.
  • Advise, document and implement leadership development with in the staff and the organisation.
  • Establish, implement and constantly review programs to determine effectiveness.
  • Commitment in clinical and professional development of staff and training.
  • Identify gaps in services in the community and collaborate with external stakeholders to develop and implement educational initiatives for the community and wider region.
  • Participate in a rostered 24-hour on call service

To be Successful:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in, social science, social work, psychology, counselling, clinical work or a related area and current registration with a professional association (e.g. APS, AASW, PACFA, ACA),
  • Relevant experience in supervising a counselling team and providing leadership in delivering a range of services for individuals,
  • Completed accreditation in Professional Supervision Training Course - qualified to provide staff supervision,
  • Ability to demonstrate a broad theoretical approach and demonstrated experience and skills in counselling/ clinical practice,
  • Ability to deliver and coordinate high quality services that comply with standards, regulatory requirements and policies, within a fast-paced environment,
  • Demonstrate your experience in research and analysis of data and your ability to develop creative and innovative approaches to complex problems and cases,
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, leadership and management skills with experience in leading and managing a program/service to successfully achieve performance and organisational objectives and funding KPIs,
  • Current Blue Card (Working With Children),
  • Valid Driver’s License,
  • Eligible to obtain National Criminal History Check.

Salary and Benefits

Salary starts at $110 000 PA + Super + Salary Sacrifice.
