The University of Queensland Rural Clinical School (UQRCS) envisages securing a self-sustaining medical workforce for regional Queensland through excellence in medical education, research and community service. With a footprint encompassing the greater part of central and western regional Queensland, the Rural Clinical School comprises four clinical sites - Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Toowoomba. Significant investment in people and training infrastructure at each site provides the operational focus for a network of smaller clinical training locations in host communities across the state. With a recurrent budget of up to $9 million per annum provided through the Australian Government's Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMT) and a capital works portfolio in excess of $20 million, UQRCS is a substantial enterprise.

About This Opportunity

As Marketing and Communications Officer, the primary purpose of this role is to support the implementation of an annual marketing and communications strategy for key client groups within the UQRCS (including the Regional Training Hubs).

In addition, you will also support the day to day activities undertaken by the Marketing and Communications Manager and/or other key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of key communication goals and broader strategic objectives.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the Rural Clinical School events and activities calendar, making recommendations for public events, exhibitions, information sessions and special dates.
  • Manage submissions to both internal and external stakeholder newsletters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic digital marketing activities.
  • Coordinate the design and purchase of all promotional items and marketing collateral, and offer input into the content and strategy behind it.
  • Assist the Marketing and Communications Manager in implementing strategic marketing and communication plans and offer input into future strategies.
This position can be located at any one of our four (Toowoomba, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg or Rockhampton), however some occasional travel may be required between the UQRCS sites and any of the University's domestic campuses or locations.

The Ideal Candidate

Alongside a relevant Bachelor degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience/education/training, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Experience in events management for a wide range of stakeholders including a strong understanding of protocols, planning, administration, budgeting and liaising with high-level officials.
  • High level of computer competency, including ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs, email, and specialist software such as Vision6, InDesign, Drupal.
  • Extensive experience in researching, writing and producing a wide range of different types of publications including external print and digital consumption, as well as internal staff communications.
  • Capacity to work in a team environment and in a culturally sensitive manner with people from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds.
  • High level organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure, to establish priorities, and to work across multidisciplinary teams.

What We Can Offer

This is a part-time (0.8FTE), fixed term appointment until 31 December 2021 at HEW Level 6.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $80,784 - $86,768, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range of $94,517 - $101,519.
