About the role

Do you have a talent for project management within the international development sector? Are you seeking a meaningful opportunity within a not-for-profit, values driven organisation? Then this may be the role for you!

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Project Manager to join Burnet’s Tuberculosis Elimination and Implementation Science team. You will work closely with in-country team members, technical staff as well the finance and administration teams to ensure the effective implementation of a suite of activities.

As part of an experienced team of project managers based in Melbourne you will also coordinate personnel deployment to Papua New Guinea (and other countries if within portfolio), monitor implementation progress & financial management, provide logistical and administrative support and respond to emerging risks.

This is a full-time position (0.8 FTE will also be considered), initially for a 12-month period with the possibility of extension.

Let’s talk about you

You will possess experience in the management and implementation of large development and/or research projects, particularly in PNG. With a proven track record of success working with donor’s, you will have excellent knowledge of the Australian development sector & global aid architecture, as well as outstanding administrative and organisation skills.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their strong financial and contract management skills, as well as their experience in recruitment, contracting and mobilisation of consultants and technical advisers.

The following experience is also essential:

  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills, including clients, counterpart agencies and colleagues within cross-cultural teams in Australia or overseas
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently exercising strong judgement, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to travel internationally (6-8 weeks per year)

Experience working with monitoring and evaluation frameworks and databases, ideally within a health program would be a bonus!
