About the Position

An opportunity has arisen at WorkCover WA for an experienced legal practitioner to take on the key statutory role of Arbitrator in the Workers' Compensation Arbitration Service of WA.

The Arbitration Service is a high performing and collegiate environment responsible for the resolution of complex disputes in the WA workers’ compensation and injury management scheme.

Arbitrators are independent decision makers on workers' compensation disputes and preside over arbitrations to ensure fair and efficient resolution of those disputes.

Terms of Appointment

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a track record in dispute resolution, litigation, and effective case management. An understanding of, or experience in the WA workers' compensation system or in personal injury litigation is desirable, but not essential.

To undertake this important role, you must be a legal practitioner of not less than five years’ standing as defined in the Legal Profession Act 2008 with relevant post admission experience in a legal role.

One position is available immediately to be filled on a contract basis, with the possibility of extension and/or permanent appointment.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which they may be considered for appointment to Arbitrator positions over the next 12 months. Appointees to the pool may also be offered sessional work.

Remuneration Package: $183,637 salary plus 9.5% superannuation.
