Purchasing Officer

  • 2 Roles Available - Purchasing Officer (Temp) & Purchasing Manager (Perm)
  • Located in Greater Western Sydney
  • Dealing with imports from Asia, Europe and USA

Our client is a global manufacturer and distributor of healthcare products, sold in over 100 countries. Their purpose is to help people feel good and perform better.

About the Role

Both roles are available for an immediate start for candidates with experience in hands on purchasing/ transnational work, a good understanding of importing and exporting and intermediate Excel Skills. You will be in a hands on role involved in purchase planning and coordination, working closely with Purchasing officers and liaising between the customer service, warehouse, marketing and finance divisions.

Key areas of focus for the role includes:

  • Placing orders
  • Finalising shipments and inventory management tasks in the Distribution Centre operation
  • Responsible for the Purchasing department and supervising two purchasing officers
  • Strategically manage the purchasing function to ensure backorders are kept to a minimum while not exceeding stipulated stock levels.
  • Ensure International and local purchase orders are placed in line with company guidelines
  • Manage soft copy filing of documentation for shipments
  • Ensure received shipments in JIWA are completed daily
  • Daily reporting on Purchase Order ETA’s
  • Supplier Returns – manage & coordinate credits and stock adjustments within agreed values
  • Stock transfers – authorise within company agreed guidelines
  • Assisting all internal stakeholders with the logistical elements of purchase orders
  • Review and publish backorder reports within agreed guidelines
  • Attend to customer enquiries in a timely manner
  • Manage product/inventory master file in JIWA system.

The Successful Applicant will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Supply Chain Management – Diploma and/or relevant experience.
  • Advanced in Excel
  • Understanding of Financial processes / systems / regulations
  • Geographical logistical knowledge – Australia / New Zealand
  • Experience dealing with direct imports from several countries in Asia, Europe and USA is critical.
  • A thorough understanding of the freight forwarding process and technicalities of each country
  • 3-5 years as Purchasing Officer with Supervisory experience
