Purpose of The Job:

Head of Merchandise purpose is to defend product categories, extend brand value and width with key customers and develop new channels. Strategically you will understand your customers and have well researched insights into consumer behaviour and how this will assist in delivering product range. Your strong knowledgeable team are to focus on unique sourced products, brand value and delivery of innovation to enhance consumer loyalty. You are to develop, inspire and extend the extensive merchandising team in skills and knowledge by giving leadership, mentoring and responsibility.

The role will need strong analytical analysis of consumer behaviour, product sales data, threats and opportunities with market channels and a strong ability to deliver.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Make a meaningful contribution to the creation, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s overall strategic objectives.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of the Product strategies
  • Develop and introduce products that solve problems for consumers and enhance their homes and lifestyles.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of annual plans for all product categories that detail specific strategies to achieve revenue and profitability growth in core, promotional and new business.
  • Deliver first to market product and merchandising innovation, through collaboration with customers, colleagues, suppliers, and consumers.
  • Deliver a product strategy that aligns with and reflects industry-leading brand strategies
  • Collaborate with Sales team to establish and adjust selling prices by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand.
  • Actively seek, engage, and foster the strongest possible relationships with our suppliers
  • Drive and support the establishment of exclusive supply agreements with keys suppliers
  • Constantly keep abreast of what information, products or services the customer requires to meet their needs, and maintain a strong working knowledge of client portfolios / product range.

Candidate:

The ideal candidate;

  • Degree or higher formal qualifications in Business
  • At least five years at executive senior level and five years in multiple companies’ exposure to product development
  • Will have insights into strategic concepts applied by our major customer.
  • Is (potentially) from similar background from which our major customer is sourcing resources or understands the direction the customer is heading.
  • Ability to run a team of up to twenty experienced and knowledgeable employees and work through with each category manager the brand strategy going forward. Be able drive the team to excellence by being clear on results
  • Have strong strategic and planning skills
  • Have good sourcing skills and be a win/win negotiator
