About Gwydir Day Care & Preschool

Gwydir Day Care and Preschool has been operating for over 30 years, supporting the children of working parents, as well as some from non-working families subject to vacancies. With great resources and spacious outdoor areas, the centre has fantastic facilities to support a wide range of interests, offering play-based learning and engaging educational activities for children from 8 weeks up to 5 years.

Owned and managed by Moree Plains Shire Council, the daycare has four rooms, with children divided into groups based on their age/stage/development. With a friendly and welcoming team of longterm staff, they provide a high level of care and education to all children, including those who require additional assistance.

About the Opportunities

To meet the ongoing demand in the local community, Gwydir Day Care and Preschool is currently looking for multiple Early Childhood Teachers and Educators to join their well-resourced team in Moree, NSW on a permanent full-time, part-time or casual basis, negotiable to fit with your schedule. There is also an opportunity for a qualified Teacher to lead their Preschool room as part of a 12-month full-time contract.

Reporting to the Director, you'll be providing high-quality early childhood education and care for children, with a variety of placements and arrangements available depending on the position and age groups you're interested in.

Some of your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing a consistent, nurturing, caring, happy, secure, creative and active environment for all children at Gwydir Day Care and Preschool;
  • Adapting your approach to the individual needs of each child, taking into account any cultural, socio-economic, or other differences, treating each child with dignity and respect;
  • Working with other staff towards continuous improvement in all areas of Gwydir Day Care and Preschool’s operations; and
  • Developing strong relationships with children and relationships that support and partner with families and the community.

About You

To be successful as an Early Childhood Teacher you will need to hold a Degree in Early Childhood Teaching or equivalent, though applications from individuals who are currently studying this degree will be considered.

As an Early Childhood Educator, you'll ideally hold a diploma or certificate in Early Childhood Education or similar, however Gwydir will offer full support to commence or continue studying.

In either role, it's crucial that you're able to communicate positively and effectively with children and their families, delivering stimulating educational programs based on the needs and interests of the children in your care.

A genuine team player and fantastic multitasker, you'll have strong time management skills and be comfortable using a range of basic computer software, including Microsoft Office.

Most importantly, you will be a caring, positive, and nurturing individual who is passionate about the growth and development of young children.

Please note: It is essential that you hold, or are willing to obtain, a First Aid Certificate and current Working with Children Check.
