The Office of Medical Education
The Office of Medical Education (OME) is responsible for the smooth running of the UQ MD program and for leading the provision of a high quality educational experience supported by robust assessment. The OME’s aim is to ensure that graduates are well prepared to be doctors who provide excellent healthcare to their patients and communities wherever in the world they practice. The OME takes a whole-of-program approach to the education of medical students. This is a highly collaborative endeavour in which the OME works closely with the various stakeholder groups, including clinical schools, to enable UQ medical graduates to be well prepared to move on to the next stage of medical training.
About This Opportunity
Opportunity for an experienced Project Officer to support the development of the detailed design of the new MD curriculum, including working closely with academic and professional colleagues as part of the Project Working Group and project workstreams. The Project Officer will work under the direction of the Project Director in support of the successful completion of the MD DESIGN project and will be required to undertake duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Assist with project reporting, governance and administrative and logistical functions including planning and scheduling stakeholder engagement activities (workshops, site visits, events; travel bookings, venue hire, catering, preparation of printed materials and audio-visual equipment);
- Work directly with Project Working Group Chair and Academic Workstream Leads and professional colleagues to support workstream scoping, planning and discussions;
- Provide support to Project Lead and Workstream Leads in preparing the detailed design of new MD Curriculum,
- Liaise with key contacts at relevant clinical sites and elsewhere to schedule consultation activities and supporting logistics;
- Personally display and contribute to both a positive and client service focused culture in the workplace.
This position is located at our Herston Campus, UQ’s core campus for clinical health teaching and research. Sharing premises with royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the QIMR Berghofer Medical research Institute, the campus houses a vibrant clinical and research community that delivers innovative and contemporary research and education programs in a clinical academic environment. Conveniently located just minutes from Brisbane’s city centre, there is access to multiple public transport connections, onsite parking and cycling facilities.
Our Ideal Candidate
In addition to a university degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training, we are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Understanding and experience in of project management approaches and change management considerations.
- Experience in curriculum design including development of learning outcomes or undertaking operational planning (e.g. clinical placements)
- Experience in secondary desk-based research to explore key trends and synthesis findings into a written and verbal report.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work both collaboratively with colleagues.
- Proficiency in relevant technologies, including MS Office Suite, and the capacity to take up new technologies if required to meet the needs of the role

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time, fixed term position for 12 months at HEW level 7. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,763 - $96,783 plus super of up to 17%.
