JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Business Analyst, you will liaise with business stakeholders in order to understand, analyse and articulate needs of functional requirements.
With a keen interest in User Experience Design, you will have the chance to directly shape how hundreds of thousands of our customers interact with our services day-to-day. In a department where we develop mobile applications and front end web applications, user experience design is key to a great customer experience.
Key Accountabilities
Customer
- Strong relationships through engagement with customers and key stakeholders
- Collaboration with customers to facilitate and positively influence solution development and ongoing support.
- Promote an end customer focus and push back on ‘nice to have’ business focused requirements
- Understand and tailor requirements according to business needs in order to maximise business value.
- Lead the articulation of business needs and the facilitation of business and system solutions.
- Lead the compilation and/or validation of requirements and process documentation to ensure feasibility and traceability of requirements.
- Lead a continuous improvement culture, and reduction of waste
- Lead the team to achieve continuous delivery and to build quality in
- Develop, monitor and communicate team reporting and metrics
- Facilitating workshops, collaborative design sessions and performing customer journey mapping directly with product owners and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Communicate collaboratively throughout the design and costing process with technical stakeholders as part of managing expectations for business and solution
- Support the business in identification of business benefit and value, tangible and intangible, for initiatives raised
- Understand the business needs better than anyone, and move from reactionary planning to proactively leading and driving projects with business teams.
- Proactively identify and create proposals for UX improvements.
- Contribute to design and implementation of UX Strategies
- Contribute to the development of the UX Roadmap.
- Assist in the development, planning and delivery of a portfolio of work for the team
- Ensure the team remains focused on priorities and aligned to strategy and roadmaps, and that backlog and release plans are maintained
- Manage team capacity and demand with Product Owners and Delivery / Portfolio Managers
- Support the team to communicate technical and quality priorities to the product owner(s) to ensure sufficient investment in the delivery capability
- Requirements gathering and analysis using Agile techniques
- Work closely with User Experience specialists, developers and testers to provide clarification when required
- Write acceptance criteria in collaboration with the testing team
- Actively participate in Agile processes including planning and estimation
- Liaise and effectively communicate directly with key business users and stakeholders
- Work with product owners
- Elicit and document all business and technical requirements
- Undertake competitor and market analysis as required
- Facilitating workshops, collaborative design sessions and performing customer journey mapping directly with product owners and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Understanding of information architecture principles and ability to apply that understanding across different channels of interaction such as web, including responsive and native mobile.
- Strong understanding of website design and CSS principles alongside the ability to work directly with developers to make design changes quickly in working code.
- An understanding of iOS and Android native design patterns, guidelines and elements would be a distinct advantage.
- Create formal user stories based on functional and non-functional requirements
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- A customer centric, design evangelism personality would ideally be part of who you are along with willingness to challenge the status quo to deliver outstanding experiences for our customers.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Senior Business Analyst / Technical analyst
- 2 years of experience working in the role or supporting Iteration manager duties
- A passion for innovation, Agile and delivering exceptional customer experiences
- Experience in software development lifecycle
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience using agile methodologies to documents requirements
- Demonstrate excellent decision making and judgement skills
- Leadership skills and the ability to work independently or effectively within a group environment
- Excellent verbal communication and workshop/training facilitation skills
- Ability to interact with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts
- Experience using development software tools such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.
- Understanding of information architecture principles and ability to apply that understanding across different channels of interaction such as web, including responsive and native mobile.
