As the Western Australia (WA) Advisory Services team continues to expand, an opportunity has been created for a Senior Management Consultant to join the growing team. As the Assets and Operations WA Team Leader, you’ll lead a small team of consultants. You’ll integrate with, and report directly to, the WA Advisory Services Leader.


About you

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced consultant with 10+ years of experience in a consulting/management consulting environment. You’ll bring a track record of being responsible for team deliverable, time and quality. The successful candidate for this role will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience working in, or providing consulting services in, one or more of the following markets: Rail, Highways, Energy, Aviation, Healthcare.
  • Ability to work independently, ensuring projects commercially deliver against the agreed business plan, and capable of planning full projects/activities and resources required e.g. time, people and skills
  • Capability in developing business proposals for clients, by understanding client requirements and drawing together expertise from across a multi-disciplinary firm.
  • Tertiary-level degree or extensive experience in a relevant discipline.
  • One or more of the following educational qualifications:
  1. Project Management
  2. Asset Management
  3. Business Degree with a Master of Business Administration preferred
  4. Lean Six Sigma
  5. Systems Engineering
  • At least one membership of relevant professional institution/professional peer body or significant credit towards eligibility for membership.


About the role

The Assets and Operations Consulting team works at the intersection between the built environment and the people who use and experience it. We advise and deliver solutions that transform the performance and capability of our clients’ businesses and projects. To do this, we focus on people, processes, technology and assets, implementing solutions that encompass sustainability and innovation. 

Our service offering includes Asset Management, Logistics, Operational Readiness, Human Factors and Operational Performance Improvement. It forms part of our broader Advisory Services offer.

You’ll apply in-depth knowledge and expertise to win work and lead the delivery of projects across multiple sectors and high-profile clients. In this role you will be responsible for:

Team leadership

  • Leading and providing strategic direction to the WA Assets and Operations team.
  • Working closely with the WA Advisory Services Leader to integrate offerings across Advisory and the broader firm to provide holistic client value.

Delivering successful projects

  • Contributing to the commercial success of projects by demonstrating good commercial discipline as well as leading and delivering high quality work aligned to Arup’s business plan.
  • Liaising closely with key client stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of set project outcomes.
  • Leading project planning and scoping by outlining full projects/activities and resources required, e.g. time, people and skills.
  • Leading complex teams/ function areas by explicitly setting standards, defining quality, providing technical and people management support to team members.

Winning work

  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships and winning the confidence of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contributing to business development, including identifying work opportunities in existing client relationships, developing compelling and winning proposals and pitch documents.

Maintaining regional connections

  • Working closely with the Assets and Operations Australian Leader in, delivering projects, developing business proposals for clients, as well as regional resourcing and skills development.
  • Contributing to the development of methodologies, tools, thought leadership papers, work winning, and the Global and Regional Skills Network and the Region’s Asset and Operations service offerings.
