An exciting role has become available for a highly strategic HR leader to join our dynamic and innovative People and Culture team.

  • Permanent full-time (part-time applications may be considered with a minimum of 4 days per week)
  • TRP of up to $149,267
  • Flexible working: 9 day fortnight, flexible start and finish times, working from home arrangements

The Role

Reporting to the Manager People and Culture, this Head of People and Performance will lead a team of HR practitioners to deliver effective operational and strategic employee relations and industrial relations services that is grounded in HR best practice, our organisational values and legislative framework.

The role will be responsible for building a strong people and culture business partnering function to support the organisation's leaders in effective people management and leadership, foster organisational culture change, drive process improvement and manage disciplinary and performance related outcomes.

The People and Culture team has a strong agenda for improving our employee experience through a number of programs and initiatives that you will actively influence and action including Workforce Planning, EEO, Workplace Change and Staff Performance. You will also support your team and provide strategic advisory services with respect to industrial matters and interpretation and guidance across policies and procedures.

This role will be critical in continuing to build the Georges River Council employer brand, further enhancing our unique culture and creating an environment in which our people develop to their full potential and are committed to giving their best.

Candidates will need to meet the following selection criteria

  • Degree qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related discipline
  • Extensive experience in Human Resources with a particular focus on operational Industrial/Employee Relations and Workplace Investigations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide specialist advice on industrial relations and staff employment issues and in-depth knowledge of employment law and industrial relations practices.
  • Significant experience leading an employee relations function within a complex, unionised organisation.
  • Demonstrated leadership, people management and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop clear internal and external written advice
