About the Department

The Department for Child Protection (DCP) plays a key role in the protection of children, young people and their families within South Australia. The department provides support to vulnerable children and young people to be safe, strong and connected.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Information Release Officer who will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of the Freedom of Information (FOI), Provision of Information Request (POIR) to Care Leavers and Provision of Adoption Information processes within DCP. Additionally, the role will involve facilitating the effective management of information, ensuring that the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 1991, Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 and Adoption Act 1988 are identified and met while supporting the delivery and maintenance of efficient work practices within the unit.

About You

To be successful in the role you will have:
High level interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing to a wide range of stakeholders from diverse professional backgrounds.
Working knowledge of government process and programs relating to customer services, including complaint management, FOI’s, subpoenas, information exchange and similar activities.
Experience in interpreting and applying legislation relating to sensitive information release.
Proven experience taking prompt action to solve problems, acting decisively on own judgment and looking to go beyond job requirements to achieve objectives.
Experience working under limited direction within broadly defined guidelines both autonomously and as a member of a team to provide a professional service.
Proven experience gathering information from a variety of sources and analyzing content to develop solutions and generate alternative courses of action to solve issues.
Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to promoting and creating a safe and inclusive work environment.

Desirable Qualifications: Accredited FOI Officer training.
