About the Role:

Join a great team designing and delivering spatial asset solutions at the forefront of the Energy market, with a collaborative focus across the planning and operational complexities of a large asset business.



As a Senior GIS Analyst, you will have the opportunity to lead the solution design for GIS to meet complex business requirements and provide technical leadership across the full application development lifecycle.



You will provide specialist expertise to facilitate and execute support, maintenance, development, and continuous improvement of the GIS and Engineering systems including Cyber Security for the electricity transmission network, as well as the electricity and gas distribution networks.



This role will report to the GIS and Engineering Systems Manager with a base location at Melbourne, Victoria. We support flexible working practices with our employees working remotely during this time



What you will be delivering:

  • Acting as Solutions Lead for implementing business and analytical support to business system integration with the GIS systems

  • Responding to and resolving incidents, problems, and requests to ensure availability, capacity, reliability, maintainability and serviceability of the solution at all times is in line with agreed performance targets and service levels

  • Ensuring the Geospatial and Asset System and data reliability, accuracy, and integrity for the Energy Networks and the many functions, users and interfaces of the platforms


  • Actively developing Software Product roadmaps, and maintaining alignment with Application and Infrastructure vendors capabilities

  • Taking technical leadership and providing technical guidance and responsibility for development project




What we like about you:

  • Bachelor's Degree qualification in Digital, ICT, Data Science or related field

  • Relevant knowledge and experience in Geospatial and Asset management, Cartography or Engineering

  • Must have a High Level of Experience supporting Smallworld systems in both the Unix and Windows platforms and an understanding of RDBMS, Oracle and/or MS SQL Server

  • Must have significant experience in Application Development using the Smallworld "Magik" language

  • Prior experience in mentoring and developing peer and junior team members through a high period of change


  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with an ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation

  • Demonstrated experience in considering impacts to business systems and processes and ensure stakeholders are properly engaged and accountable during incident, change and problem management

  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with both positive and negative outcomes and feedback




You will be exposed to the unique transformation occurring in the Energy sector, working with key strategies required to enable an integrated solution for design, planning, construction and operation, integrating API's, data models, data warehousing and critical interfaces.
