About the role

We are seeking a tertiary qualified, experienced and dedicated Coordinator for our Youth Justice Programs South East.

This role will be responsible for the day to day operations, promotion, review and evaluation of our Youth Justice Community Support Service South and East.

The Coordinator South is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across a range of sectors and contribution to the broader leadership of Brosnan Services and Jesuit Social Services will also be important to the success of this role.

We are seeking a tertiary qualified, experienced and dedicated Coordinator for our Youth Justice Programs South East. The role will oversee the day to day operations of our South East Youth Justice Community Support Service, the Dandenong Casey Crime Prevention partnership and Community Connections Mentoring.

The Coordinator South East will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across a range of sectors and contribution to the broader leadership of Brosnan Services and Jesuit Social Services.

Our programs provide intensive support and/or mentoring to young people and ensures young people referred to the program are; are linked to family, community and culture, have pathways to economic participation and have access to a range of supports and services in relation to health, housing and developmental needs.

A base salary of $90,441 per annum is on offer, plus salary packaging benefit, together with ongoing professional and career development.

Candidate requirements

This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  1. Demonstrated capacity to manage programs providing a range of services to marginalised young people, particularly those involved in the criminal justice system
  2. Experience in recruitment, selection and performance management of staff and an understanding of the key organisational policies and processes relating to this area
  3. Significant experience working effectively with young people engaged in the justice system; and particularly those experiencing substance misuse, homelessness, mental health concerns, violent or aggressive behaviours and other complex problems that may result in offending behaviour.
  4. Experience in, and/or knowledge of, the Youth Justice and Child Protection systems, relevant Legislation, processes and procedures and the ability to establish, and maintain positive and productive working arrangements with a range of stakeholders; both Government and non-Government.
  5. Knowledge and experience in appropriate interventions/skills required to support people with multiple and complex needs and clear understanding of the requirements/elements of case management, intensive support, crisis intervention and outreach
  6. Experience in providing support, mentoring and/or supervision to staff.
  7. A good knowledge the South East Metropolitan Melbourne area; the services available and particular issues that may relate to local areas
  8. Capacity and commitment to contribute to the wider development of Brosnan Centre and Jesuit Social Services
  9. Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Capacity to fulfil reporting and administrative requirements associated with the position
  11.  Understanding and sympathy with the mission and ethos of Jesuit Social Services
  12. Current driver’s licence
  13. Valid Police Check and Working with Children Check card.
