JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity:
As the Node Technician you will be required to support the Lead with the support and maintenance of the Transmit and Receive sites including, maintenance and repair of HF transmitters, receivers, antennas, IT and Data communications equipment as well as a host of ancillary communications equipment.
In addition, you will also maintains the site mechanical and electrical services and provides assistance with local associated administrative.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that all work orders are executed as scheduled in the LSMS and repair/performance data is appropriately completed as directed by the Node Lead;
  • Carrying out the repairs and maintenance of site equipment as directed by the Node Lead;
  • Assisting with supervising on-site subcontractors in the correct performance of these tasks as directed by the Node Lead;
  • Assisting in undertaking BDA and NOSC contingency operations at the site under the direction of the Node Lead or his delegate;
To be successful you will have:
  • Tertiary qualification in IT, Electronics and/or Radio Communications, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to abide by and apply safety guidelines and principles in the work place
  • 2 years' experience in support and maintenance of communications systems, or ability to provide support whilst under training
  • Solid experience in High powered HF Communications, including Transmitters, Receivers and associated transmission systems
  • A sound knowledge of IT and data communications
  • An understanding of and experience in using Technical Manuals/publications in the repair of equipment and systems
