About the Role:

Commercial Manager will act as a key business partner, championing commercial awareness within the hotel, planning and executing commercial strategy with a particular emphasis on revenue, and will lead your team to deliver on our mission to be the most hospitable company in the world.

Commercial Manger will work collaboratively with all Departments and the broader Leadership Team to ensure that revenue targets are met in Rooms, Conference & Events and Outlets. Reporting to the Hotel Manager, you will develop and execute strategic leadership of the hotel’s commercial function in line with company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing & driving a commercial strategy covering all segments and channels to maximise total revenue and profit performance as well as market share penetration of the hotel,
  • Seizing new opportunities through strong customer relations and works as an ambassador for the company,
  • Set the targeted accounts for the team and self and is “hands on” visiting clients, entertaining and always looking for new business in rooms and catering through well -developed market and industry research and competitive shopping initiatives.
  • Develop sales action plans, which accurately interpret the objectives of the business for all market segments for yourself and your direct reports namely Corporate, Leisure and MICE.
  • Take responsibility for reviewing and reporting at month end on revenue streams and ensuring accurate forecasting as required.
  • Execute daily and weekly sales meetings with your team to plan future activities and to highlight successes and best practice.
  • In conjunction with Marketing, develop sales, marketing and promotional opportunities internally and with industry partners.
  • Ensuring commercial management strategies are set for all revenue streams and that all systems are used to their full potential to yield the highest possible amount of revenue from all available space, whether in rooms, meeting space, outlets or other revenue departments,
  • Driving overall market share results, gaining an unfair share through a disciplined execution of commercial activities,
  • Leading, coaching, developing, recruiting and retaining future talents, and
  • Managing performance, developing and evaluating the commercial team members on the agreed KPI’s, whilst working effectively as part of the leadership team on property.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Degree level qualification preferred in business, commerce, marketing, communications or another related field,
  • Substantial and successful track record in hotel commercial operations required,
  • Previous leadership & management experience; preferably 5 years or more,
  • Proven track record of success in achieving revenue and commercial objectives, and
  • Proven ability to recruit, motivate and train successful teams.

It would also be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of the hotel property management systems (OnQ and Salesforce)
  • Previous experience in the same or similar role within the hospitality industry, and
