About North East Link

The North East Link Project (NELP) is a $15.8bn infrastructure project that will connect the missing link in Melbourne's freeway network, whilst increasing the capacity of the Eastern Freeway. It will slash travel times, get trucks off local roads and link key growth areas in the north and south-east whilst creating thousands of new jobs. 

NELP is the Victorian Government entity responsible for the delivery of this mega-project. NELP has already laid out initial design concepts, engaged community leaders and are now at tendering stage with several major contractors. With completion due in 2027, things are ramping up fast at NELP.

About the opportunity

This role represents a unique opportunity for an expert in major construction interface management and delivery stakeholder management to challenge themselves on Australia's largest and most complex tunnelling project. Reporting to the Director, Delivery Planning and Interface, the Manager, Delivery Planning and Interface leads a team responsible for delivering the systems processes and creative solutioning required to manage the complex linkages between North East Link's (NELP) Primary, Secondary and Early Works packages. Through effective senior stakeholder management across NELP, this position collates and analyses highly technical project wide data in order strategically manage and mitigate project interface risk.

Through fostering of collaborative partnerships with project wide leadership and the effective co-ordination of the interface management team this position is responsible for delivering holistic change management strategies to mitigate interface risks that could otherwise cause significant reputational and or financial damage to NELP's overall project delivery strategy.

About you:

This position demands a highly experienced and well-rounded construction interface manager with full project life-cycle knowledge of major infrastructure delivery. To be considered for the role you must have:

  • Substantial experience in interface management and the identification, nullification and mitigation of interface risks across multiple large and complex construction packages.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven expertise in leading teams and project managing major infrastructure projects with multidisciplinary teams, complex commercial responsibilities, multiple stakeholders and significant risk profiles to scope, time and cost requirements.
  • Demonstrated significant achievement in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects within the scheduled timeframe and budget optimising safety, environmental impacts, reliability, operational characteristics and maintainability, through to handover, and commissioning.

Finally, as the leader of a team within one of the most challenging infrastructure projects in Australia's history it is important you bring the refined people management and leadership skills needed to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.
