Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the Head of Commercial is a senior leadership position accountable for driving revenue growth, business levels and brand awareness through the development and execution of effective business strategy. To maximize the performance of the Commercial functions (including the Sales, Marketing and Revenue teams), it is imperative that this role provides strong leadership, ongoing coaching and development to direct reports.

Key responsibilities of this role:

  • Drive outstanding performance and ensure the Commercial team is committed to the execution of the business strategy
  • Coach and mentor the General Manager Sales, Director of Marketing and Director of Revenue to improve revenue growth in leisure and corporate markets
  • Review and analyse the performance of Sales, Marketing and Revenue team members through weekly, quarterly and annual reporting
  • Oversee the development of revenue strategies
  • Ensure the Central Reservations Office is efficient, accountable and effective in maximizing revenue opportunities
  • Ensure the senior members of the Commercial Team hold their teams accountable for performance targets
  • Develop the commercial acumen of Commercial team members
  • Conduct due diligence and roll out new technology as required to benefit the entire commercial team and organization as a whole
  • Grow existing business and establish and pursue new sales leads
  • Negotiate business deals, sponsorship agreements and commercial partnerships
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions
  • Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image
  • Determine sales forecasting and set goals accordingly
  • Develop and implement annual strategic sales plans to achieve corporate objectives
  • Determine strategic plans to grow brand awareness both nationally and internationally

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience as Head of Commercial or relevant role
  • Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients
  • In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • BSc/BA in business administration, finance or relevant field; Masters qualification is a plus
  • Experience in the Hotel, Tourism and Hospitality Industries would be ideal
