Amazon is looking for an experienced and driven Category Merchant Manager to be part of the team managing sellers and growing the Consumables (FMCG) business on Amazon marketplace in Australia.

As Category Merchant Manager, you will be in charge of projects that contribute to long-term success, improving customer experience, supporting growth. Responsibilities include expanding our product selection, improving product availability, building strong relationships with key partners (both internally and externally) and driving improvements to the Amazon Australia store. This role will have a high degree of autonomy and will be able to influence across a broad range of projects including product launches across the business as well as responsible for initiating and developing strong relationships with large, strategic Sellers.

They balance their time between managing strategic Sellers and category management, enabling tools for Marketplace growth. The objective of the Category Merchant Manager is to work with and enable the growth of very high potential sellers that deliver competitive selection, pricing, and availability. The successful candidate will support these sellers by ensuring that they master catalogue, pricing and other tools.
They will work with various stakeholders and teams across the Amazon organization both locally and internationally.


Operating in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment the successful candidate will be required to work autonomously, taking responsibility for achieving business objectives. This role provides a real opportunity to develop original ideas, approaches, and solutions in a competitive and ever changing business climate.


· Drive program adoption with strategic seller cohort across tools and services
• Category strategy and ownership: Work closely with Leadership on planning and business strategy, drive best-in-class customer experience and maximize unit and revenues growth through timely analysis and action.
• Business Development: You will work closely with Strategic Sellers and add selection for the category
• Project management: Automate and scale the category level growth via new selection, product listing quality and instock opportunities via Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). Partner with technology teams to drive automation and scalability across the worldwide organization.
• Customer Experience: Work within the category to identify customer pain points and create new or improved experiences for the customer.
· Meet or exceed targets for strategic seller account management
· Educate and network with strategic and customer contacts
· Relay market needs and requirements back to internal Amazon teams including Product Management, Technical and Category Management teams.
· Work closely with marketing, merchandising, business development, customer service and other key internal Amazon stakeholders
· Analyze industry and Amazon internal data to understand competitive landscape across multiple categories and identify customer trends
· Work with second and top tier sellers to procure selection opportunities; identify areas of opportunity for customer experience improvements
• Develop a complete understanding of the customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to deliver site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience.
• Create business plans for new opportunities and develop and execute project plans for the launch of new features, incorporating merchandising and pricing strategies
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines for high visibility projects
· Identify and manages projects to improve customer and seller experience, working closely with internal and external teams
• Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability target

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


· Fluency in English

· Highly organized and results oriented.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Engineering or related degree required

· 7+ years work experience

· Strong track record of success in managing and growing large accounts, product marketing or management consulting roles.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex concepts simply

· Ability to drive successful projects with a wide range of people at all decision-making levels.
· Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment

· A strong background in product management is required, or related experience that demonstrates strong analytics and project leadership skills.
· Strong analytical skills (including advanced excel and database analysis).
· Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
· A great deal of personal initiative and strong hands-on attitude along with creativeness, decisiveness and results-driven mentality for a business-focused way of thinking.
· Proven project management skills, customer focused, extremely detail-oriented, and able to effectively prioritize and multi-task.
· Proven experience in developing original ideas, approaches, and solutions to typical, unusual, or difficult situations in a competitive and ever changing business climate

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


· Experience with e-commerce or retail would be an advantage.

· Ability to work with legal, product, and internal business owners to reach mutually beneficial agreements

· Strong business judgment, proven ability to influence others

· Experience using Salesforce.com or other CRM tool

· Experience in managing a team of Account Managers

· Knowledge of SQL preferred
