About the Role...

An exciting opportunity now exists for a dynamic and community-focused individual to join the City of Playford team and support the delivery of our Social Inclusion Programs for people with a disability.

Reporting to the Quality Coordinator - Disability Access and Social Inclusion and using Person Centred Practice whilst meeting all required legislation and standards, you will support the delivery of the City of Playford Social Inclusion groups for people with a disability to increase their access and inclusion to the community in alignment with their individual NDIS goals.

Given the casual nature of this role, out of hours and weekend work may be required.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Using Person Centred practice provide support to participants to encourage their active involvement in program activities and outings.
  • In collaboration with the program coordinator assist with the delivery of activities that are individualised, goal directed and designed to maximise independence and community inclusion.
  • Provide support with personal care for participants as required
  • Assist participants to engage in activities in a manner that will maximise their independence and participation with a focus on individual strengths and abilities.
  • Ensure regular and timely provision of communication and information to participants and carers.
  • Assist with door to door transport for participants using council vehicle.
  • Assist the coordinator with program administration and participant record keeping.

About You...

The successful applicant will be passionate about delivering positive outcomes for the Community, and have experience supporting people with a disability to participate in a range of activities that promote personal development and community inclusion:

In addition, you will possess:
  • Experience supporting people with a disability to participate in a range of activities that promote personal development and community inclusion.
  • Experience and understanding of Person Centred Practice, Active Support and Dignity of Risk
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, Council staff and community
  • Experience working with volunteers and community groups to achieve required outcomes
  • Ability to relate and communicate well with a wide range of people
  • Strong facilitative skills to encourage community participation and involvement.
  • Commitment to the rights and building capacity of people with a disability
  • Good negotiation and advocacy skills
Having a demonstrated understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is desirable.

Incumbents in this position may be required to possess, or be willing to gain a National Criminal History Clearance and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

A requirement of this position will also be to participate in a Pre-Employment Medical and Functional Capacity Assessment (including Drug and Alcohol Screen)..
