The role
We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our Heart Failure Research Group at the Baker Institute.
Duties
In this role you will be expected to:
Assist with preclinical model studies.
Conduct molecular, cellular and biochemical experiments.
Analysis of data.
Perform critical analyses of literature relevant to research.
Organise data for the preparation of proposals for new funding.
Demonstrate an ability to meet deadlines without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy.
Experimental design and operation of advanced laboratory and technical equipment or conduct of advanced research procedures.
Proactive attendance at team meetings and attendance at all relevant seminars and staff meetings.
Adhere to the policies of the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute.
Advice within the field of research to postgraduate students.

Skills and Experience
You will have:
The academic knowledge of a health science discipline, such as microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy, pathology, pharmacology, cell and molecular biology or biomedical science or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible work experience.
Research experience in preclinical model and animal handling, primary cell isolation and culture studies, immunohistology, molecular biology and/or biochemical assays significant advantage.
Appropriate project management and computer skills.
Understand your own area of research, and how this team interacts with other directly related groups within the research programme.
Functional and administrative supervision may be exercised over laboratory assistants, graduate students and other assigned research and support personnel.
