JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client, a large Federal Government Agency, is seeking a Government Relations Officer to join the team to help connect internal and external stakeholders and provide advice and reporting on matters related to other large governance bodies. You will have reasonable autonomy and accountability in your role while you help contribute to the implementation of strategic change management projects. You will contribute to the development of major projects of work. This is a 12 month temporary role with a view for an extension (subject to business requirements) and it is paying $51.50 per hour + super. The role is based in Geelong and in light of COVID-19, flexible working arrangements are on offer. Our client helps support a better life for Australians with disability.

Responsibilities:
Developing and managing project plans for jurisdictional governance meetings and events in accordance with the project management framework.
Providing specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholders.
Performing independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports, including on relevant governance activities.
Coordinating regular governance project reporting including status updates.
Preparing draft written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation.
Contributing to project quality management of governance tasks to ensure that deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs.
Building governance-related capability by engaging and working with subject matter experts, implementing processes and tools, and undertaking continuous quality improvement of existing practises and processes.

Skills/Experience:
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Prior experience in strategic planning, program and project management and/or policy development.
Ability to be autonomous and independent.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Prior experience within Government is preferable, but is not mandatory.
