Round Oak Minerals (Round Oak) is a base and precious metals producer with a number of Australian based mining and processing operations. We are now seeking a Study Manager to oversee the Definition Phase Study (DPS) for our Stockman Project, which is positioned to be Round Oak’s flagship mine operation.
This is an initial 12-month fixed term contract based in our Brisbane Corporate office requiring travel to site as needed. The role will be responsible for leading and managing evaluation studies to identify and develop business case(s) for the project.
The Stockman Project is located in the Victorian Alps region, approximately 469km by road northeast of Melbourne. It is based on the development of two underground copper-zinc deposits, Wilga and Currawong, discovered by WMC Resources/BP Minerals in 1978 and 1979, respectively. The Wilga deposit was acquired and mined by Denehurst Ltd from 1992 to 1996.
Job Description
Duties and responsibilities:
- Management of feasibility studies and projects
- Scoping and delivering a range of general services such as: due diligence, peer review, project audits, reviewing operational issues and providing practical solutions
- Identifying, securing and managing required resources
- Ensuring studies are scoped correctly and managed to agreed timelines
- Delivering study documents, reports, recommendations & presentations that meet study guidelines and procedures
- Optimising the allocation of human & physical resources in respect of engineering, supervision & procurement activities for the study
- Developing overall technical and business understanding of the project
- Identifying key value drivers, risks and mitigation strategies
- Maintaining & fostering relationships & contacts; and
- Developing the study team & individual competence

The ideal candidate will possess or be able to demonstrate:
- Engineering degree or equivalent plus proven resource project management skills
- Proven experience in the administration & management of resource projects / studies
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Typically incumbents will have 15 to 20 years of experience
Additionally, prior study management experience working as part of an ‘Owner’s Team’ with oversight of technical studies in geology, mining, processing, tailings storage, water and the like. Oversight of non-technical aspects such as community relations, stakeholder engagement, government relations, environmental baseline and permitting, is also not essential but highly desirable.
