Location: Mahajanga,Madagascar
Duration: Minimum 2 weeks
Start Dates: Project is on-going, and you can join at any time, depending upon availability. Placements start each Monday
Fee Includes: all food, accommodation, pre-departure + in-country support, orientation and all project related activities
Does not Include: flights, airport pickup, travel insurance, personal spending, visas and vaccinations
Please note: This opportunity is designed to give you the contacts and experience to help further your career. You are not replacing any member of staff, but helping alongside them, whilst learning new skills.

We work with the local government to evaluate and prioritise communities most in need. We have built and repaired over 30 schools and constructed over 2000 benches using sustainable timber. We build wells which provide clean water as well as pit latrines and hand washing facilities which have a direct impact on health of local families. The work and lifestyle is challenging but incomparably rewarding and should be within the capabilities of any reasonably fit person. All skills necessary to participate on the programme are taught during the placement so no pre-existing experience is required.
In a Group Of Like-minded International Volunteers, With a Team Of Malagasy Guides And An International Group Coordinator, You May Get Involved In
You will receive a project orientation which includes information about Madagascar, local customs and an introduction to the work you will be doing. As a volunteer on this programme you may work on community projects such as building schools as seen in Project Sekoly or building wells and latrines in rural villages.
- Digging a schools foundations and the construction of the walls.
- Painting the classrooms and building the classroom furniture.
- Working on health and sanitation projects building wells and latrines in areas with poor sanitation.
- Increasing access to safe drinking water and educating about the importance of hygiene.
