Position Summary

About The Role

As a Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM), you will play a key role in managing our Antenatal/Postnatal Unit at Mercy Hospital for Women. Join our busy unit with a diverse and committed team of MUM’s, AMUM’s, Midwifery staff and Lactation Consultants

  • Part Time 0.6 EFT position, fixed Term until June 2021
  • Provide effective leadership and strategic direction within the unit
  • Ensure high quality clinical practices and patient care
  • Collaborate with the other MUMs within the Postnatal/Antenatal Unit
  • Opportunity for you to seek innovative improvements in patient care
  • Play a role in tactically managing the operational, financial, human and information resources within the unit


About You

We are looking for an experienced Midwifery Unit Manager with advanced clinical and leadership skills to take on this key role. You will have:
  • Midwifery Registration with (AHPRA)
  • Nursing qualification highly desirable
  • Post Graduate Degree (or working towards) in hospital or health services, administration, management or equivalent qualification
  • Extensive experience in maternity services and an advocate for women and staff
  • Experience in a management role including demonstrated experience in change management and clinical innovation
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor a team to maximise performance
  • Awareness and understanding of financial and budgetary process

Mercy Hospital for Women is a fully accredited Level 6 Public Specialist Teaching Hospital providing both public and private patient care through maternity services, neonatology and paediatrics, perioperative services, gynaecology, women's health and associated health, support and diagnostic services. We are a major teaching hospital and specialist referral centre with the medical, nursing, midwifery and allied health expertise to treat the most complex obstetric, neonatal and gynaecological cases.
