About the role

Applications are sought from suitably qualified and experienced practitioners for a Part time position – 0.5 EFT within our Mental Health Services Division as a shared Co-ordinator of our Families & Parents with a Mental Illness (FaPMI) Program

As part of the Service Development & Support Unit, the FaPMI Coordinator role is essentially one of service development and capacity building. This position will adopt a comprehensive approach to promote the mental health and well-being of families where a parent has a mental illness. The FaPMI Coordinator will have a significant role in developing strong relationships with key stakeholders in the region who work with children, youth and families and in contributing to the professional development needs of these service providers. The FaPMi co-ordinator will also provide a range of consultations, both primary and secondary, to support practitioners who are working with parents who have experienced a mental illness. The FaPMI co-ordinator will work in line with the Strategic directions identified for all FaPMI co-ordinators through the Bouverie Centre.

What you bring

As a health professional (Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Social Worker) you will hold the relevant qualifications and registrations and have considerable experience in mental health, particularly working with families and young people aged 0-18 years. Knowledge of relevant research and evidence based interventions to support families, an ability to design and deliver professional development trainings, to work in a multi-disciplinary team, and excellent communication skills are essential. You will also have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation & statutory responsibilities related to mental health, children, young people & families.
