Our Youth Services Team is looking for a passionate motivated part-time Youth Development Worker to work with 3 Bridges for 30 hours per week

About the role

The purpose of this position is to work within the Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) framework and provide Case Management to at risk and vulnerable young people and their families that ensure they have the information, knowledge and skills to make informed choices and reduce risk factors.

The Youth Development Worker (YDW) will have a focus on early intervention and the role requires exceptional planning, time management skills as well as the ability to effectively facilitate group programs.

The position requires strong cultural sensitivity and the utmost confidentiality with a willingness to go outside ones comfort zone to enable better outcomes for young people and their families.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Working with young people in a Case Management capacity from 10-18.Work within the TEI framework. Strive to create a safe, fun, enjoyable and engaging atmosphere in order to encourage participation in programs.
  • Have strong links with community organisations, provide appropriate referrals pathways for young people and families.
  • Work effectively and professionally within Schools and with key stakeholders includes Principals, Deputies Principal, teaching staff, Counsellors and Wellbeing Units.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate activities/ programs to target improving wellbeing and engagement of young people.

Essential Requirements for the positions are:

  • Criminal History Clearance. ( to be completed by 3Bridges prior to commencement)
  • Valid NSW Working with Children Check
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or Equivalent Qualification.
  • Minimum 3 year’s experience providing Case Work to young people who are involved with the Police, Department of Communities and Justice, AOD, Mental Health or Housing Services .
  • Experience working with Young People with complex needs specifically 10-18 years of age.
  • Experience of participation in the intake process and managing a complex and diverse caseload
  • A strong understanding of trauma informed and young person centred frameworks, as well as child protection legislations.
  • Experience of developing and delivering targeted programs to young people and with strength in managing complex needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and respect for, cultural and linguistic diversity (CALD).
  • Experience in building parentships and networking skills
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage own workload and use initiative.
  • Ability to work in challenging situations and manage competing priorities
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work and comply with all WH&S Standards and Regulations.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience working in mental health, AOD or housing
  • Second Language
