Clough has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Waitsia Stage 2 development in the northern Perth Basin, near the town of Dongara approximately 350km north of Perth and 65km south of Geraldton in Western Australia. The Waitsia Stage 2 project includes a new 250 TJ/day gas processing plant with a 20-year life-cycle that will convey gas via the nearby Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. Clough currently has a requirement for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the project working in our Perth office.

Reporting to the Discipline Chief Engineer – Electrical (Discipline) and Lead Electrical Engineer (Project), this role is required to provide electrical engineering expertise to the project. You will ensure that all deliverables are completed in a timely manner to the required level of accuracy in accordance with Company procedures, the basis of design, and the terms of the contract. You will ensure that cost effective solutions are applied to meet project objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Maintain design responsibility:

  • Prepare design documentation – Consistent with the required design input, criteria and methods, meets the Clients design criteria, Code and Standards requirements and design basis.

Review and approve the work from other engineers:

  • Participate in squad checks of drawings, datasheets, schedules, calculations, specifications and purchase orders from within electrical and other disciplines.
  • Ensure consistency and correctness of work.

Liaise with other disciplines:

  • Maintain a timely flow of interdisciplinary design information, and early identification of change.

Liaise with Client engineering personnel:

  • Ensure all Clients contractual objectives are understood / met and change control procedures are implemented and followed through for any Client initiated changes.

Liaise with Vendors:

  • Coordinate and oversee Vendors during request for quotation, bid evaluations, purchase order, kick-off meetings, package design and construction.
  • Checking and approving Vendor drawings prior to construction and factory acceptance tests.

Liaise with other project functions including Quality, Procurement, Scheduling, Document Control, Construction and Commissioning.

You should possess knowledge in the following areas:

  • Power Systems Design experience using ETAP or SKM PowerTools software
  • Protection coordination studies
  • Power generation – Develop power generation architecture and parameters for diesel and gas driven generators
  • HV Switchboard design for power generation and power distribution systems
  • LV Switchgear/MCC design for power distribution systems
  • Transformer design for both power distribution and transmission
  • HV and LV electrical motors and Electrical drives
  • Packaged equipment
  • Earthing and lightning protection design
  • Lighting design
  • Classification of hazardous areas and design/selection of equipment for hazardous area use

Applicants are required to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, have attained competency for Hazardous Area related work (preferred) and have extensive experience with Onshore and/or Offshore Oil & Gas projects (preferred) or in the mining / resources market sectors.

This role will be based in our Perth office on a full time contract basis.
