The Opportunity

The ITIL Service Manager (Configuration, Capacity & Availability) is a greenfield role for AC3, and will be responsible for ensuring that new and existing services and infrastructure are centrally tracked, can deliver the levels of availability agreed with our customers in service level agreements, and that there is sufficient capacity to meet current and future demand.
Responsibilities include being a process owner and will therefore be accountable for maintaining information about configuration items that are required to deliver IT services.
The role is part of our Service Management team, and will provide guidance and oversight on the implementation and execution of effective availability, capacity and configuration management. The role will be working particularly closely with our internal teams to help analyse, plan, measure and improve all aspects of the capacity & availability of IT systems and services.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Define, monitor and own the execution of the Configuration Management and CI Lifecycle Management processes
  • Establish and communicate the process mission, goals, and objectives to all stakeholders
  • Define a clear process of identification and reconciliation of CI’s and responsible for maintaining the overall integrity of the CMDB
  • Plan, manage and control the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure the accuracy of configuration data and proper reporting and status accounting
  • Develop the CMDB data model, in close collaboration with the technical SME’s, and maintain ownership of the overall CMDB lifecycle and scope
  • Responsible for Configuration Control to ensure only authorised and identifiable CIs are in the infrastructure
  • Define CMDB quality, currency, and completeness metrics (aka health metrics) and work with internal teams to perform health checks and regular audits against the defined health metrics
  • Specify clear attributes, relationships, and criteria's that a CI must have to measure the percentage of orphan CIs in the CMDB
  • Ensure the integration and support of the Configuration Management process to the other ITIL processes such as Incident, Problem, Request, and Change management. •Continuous improvements for the automation and maintenance of non-discoverable data attributes including integration of other asset management systems as required
  • Monitoring, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of the process to senior management
  • Aspirational – Expand the role over time to improve our Asset Management Process for hardware and software assets
