JOB DESCRIPTION

The Vic Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Vic operations department to ensure customer expectations are met. The primary focus of the role is to ensure the smooth operation and transportation of freight by ensuring consistent delivery standards are met. In this role, you will ensure operational efficiency through effective management and utilisation of resources.

My client is a third party logistics provider that specialise in shop fit outs and sensitive freight.

Description

The key tasks and responsibilities of this position are but not limited to:

  • Implement WH&S regulations and requirements, ensuring safe working conditions and practices within your area of responsibility
  • Manage fatigue management protocols for local staff
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager (Vic/SA) to review and make practicable improvements to work-flow, work processes and efficiency's within designated area in line with company objectives
  • Co-ordinate, in conjunction with the warehouse manager the timely despatch of stock
  • Proactively contribute to ensure the operations team runs efficiently
  • Manage the maintenance and service for all company assets and equipment allocated to the VIC depot
  • Manage fleet control and staff time management
  • Ensure fleet vehicle utilisation is always met to ensure the profitability of the business is met
  • Monitor and notify driver start and finish times
  • Approve timesheets in time management system
  • Ensure linehaul commitments are met whilst keeping linehaul costs to a minimum
  • Ensure timely, full and accurate communication with all relevant departments on any factors which will impact on delivery dates, commitments to customers, quality, etc
  • Identify areas of process improvement i.e. efficiency / customer service / DIFOT
  • Manage and grow existing strategic relationships/partnerships

Profile

To be considered for this role you must possess the following skills and experience:

  • 4 + years' experience in an operations supervisor or similar role.
  • Experience in the transport or FMCG / Retail industry desirable.
  • Hands-on experience implementing operational processes.
  • Solid understanding of legislation applicable to the workplace and ability to act in accordance with (but not limited to) OH&S guidelines, duty of care responsibilities, drug & alcohol policy, all DUTT Transport workplace policies.
  • Knowledge of operational principles and policies.
  • Sound product / service and industry knowledge.
  • Proficient in Excel and MS Office suite (Excel, PPT, Word) and excellent understanding of Translogix.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to implement, and ensure compliance with, company policies & procedures.
  • Strong business acumen including financial budgeting, planning and management.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.
