Total Indicative Remuneration: $92,017 to $106,446 (p.a.) - Multiple vacancies available - Full-time - Temporary up to 30 June 2022 - AHP2

The primary role of the Social Worker/Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist is to provide assessment services to infants, children, adolescents and their family where child abuse and neglect is identified by the Department for Child Protection and/or South Australian Police. This involves the use of individual and family assessment techniques, and formal psychological assessment techniques (including standardised tests). Prior to conducting forensic interviews of children the incumbent is required to complete an approved training course which meets legislative and SA Health requirement for a Prescribed Interviewer.

You will also provide consultation to a wide range of stakeholders and the wider community, which may include therapeutic interventions for children depending on the needs of the Child Protection Service. You will participate in the provision of an urgent after hours on-call consultative service, liaising with medical services and other agencies such as the Department for Child Protection, Crisis Care, and South Australian Police. In instances where there has been recent abuse of an infant, child or adolescent, crisis intervention with the infant, child or adolescent and their family or an urgent forensic assessment may be required. Following all assessments you are required to complete comprehensive reports, within specified time periods, for the Department for Child Protection and the Youth Court, or the South Australian Police and the Criminal Court.

For appointment as a Psychologist an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or

For appointment as a Clinical Psychologist an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia within an Endorsed Areas of Practice; or

For appointment as a Social Worker an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
