JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Located in Box Hill, close to public transport links and childcare centres

The Role

Flexible shift options exist for casual positions within the Dialysis unit at Epworth Eastern. You will be responsible for caring for acute and chronic renal patients and overseeing their dialysis treatment from start to finish.Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will work in a 9 chair Satellite Renal Dialysis Unit that regularly supports inpatient haemodialysis for patients who present to Epworth Eastern Hospital for their medical/surgical needs. Our renal service is staffed by registered nurses trained in the delivery of haemodialysis using the Fresenius 5008 machines. We have the support of our own Renal physicians who provide regular monthly blood reviews and follow ups. The hospital ICU staff and Emergency Response Team also service our medical emergencies.

You will make an impact by:

  • Utilising a reflective, critical thinking and evidence-based approach to the clinical care of patients, both acute and chronic
  • Providing pre and post-procedure care to patients and monitoring their progress during their treatment
  • Educating patients on post -treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs and any self-administration medication
  • Delivering an exceptional patient experience
  • Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care

To be successful in this role…

You are an experienced renal dialysis nurse who is passionate about patient care and achieving high quality clinical outcomes. A strong communicator, you have a supportive and engaging style that enables you to easily build rapport with patients and their families.You are comfortable working autonomously as well as part of a multidisciplinary team and can effectively plan manage your time.

You will have

  • Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA
  • Previous experience working in Renal Dialysis
  • Contemporary knowledge of the assessment and management of health concerns of patients with complex needs.

About Epworth Eastern

Located in Box Hill, Epworth Eastern is a state-of-the-art facility and includes an 8 bed ICU, 10 bed HDU/CCU and 10 theatres. Epworth Eastern maintains a broad clinical focus from cardiac, vascular, orthopaedic and general surgery to oncology, urology and endoscopy services. Epworth Eastern has commenced its expansion and redevelopment, which will see the construction of the 14 storey East Wing Tower, delivering additional beds, theatres and consulting rooms. The expansion will also see a brand-new private emergency department for Melbourne’s east.
