The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) is a member of the University's Senior Executive and has responsibility for the development and advancement of the University's profile in research and research training. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) is supported by the staff in the UQ Research and Innovation portfolio. Units within the portfolio have responsibility to support the University's research community through strategic engagement with external stakeholders, funding organisations and research partners; international collaborations; grants management; research performance data management, contract negotiation; and research ethics and integrity.

Within the UQ Research and Innovation portfolio the Research Ethics and Integrity office provides administrative and strategic support related to the University’s animal ethics, human research ethics, sanctions, export controls and research integrity processes. Research Ethics and Integrity also provides advice, education and training to the UQ community.

About This Opportunity

We are currently searching for an Animal Ethics Coordinator to join our team based at our St Lucia Campus. The Animal Ethics Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting and delivering the UQ animal ethics framework and processes.

Your primary responsibility will be the administrative responsibility for supporting UQ’s Animal Ethics Committees in meeting statutory and ethical obligations in relation to animal welfare in research. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders in providing procedural, policy and legislative advice and reporting.

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment – you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are searching for an experience people manager developed in an environment where there is a high level of governance or compliance. Ideally, you will have experience working in the higher education sector. You will demonstrate outstanding communication, negotiating and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with an analytical approach to problem solving.

Candidates a strong background in animal ethics compliance will be looked upon favourably.

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, continuing position at HEW level 7.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,763 - $96,783, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $103,852 - $113,236.
