We offer a range of tailored support services focused on the individual needs of each person we support. These include Supported Independent Living, Support Coordination, Community Access, Complex Care, Psychology, Counselling and more.

Open Minds is also a registered NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) provider, with more than 500 employees across 35 locations.
We are seeking passionate and talented individuals aligned to our Values to help us deliver on our purpose. 

Due to a growing referral base, we are expanding Specialist Services team which supports service delivery providers within and external to Open Minds. The Behavioural Support Specialist (BSS) provides direct specialist assessment and intervention services to funded clients with complex support needs (predominately under NDIS). The position is based at our Taringa office and is offered on a permanent full time basis.

The BSS may also be involved in indirect supports, such as the provision of advice, reviews, training and development activities as well as contributing to client-centric quality improvement programs.

Qualifications and credentials: 

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification - Behavioural Science, Psychology, or similar;
  • Confirmed as eligible to deliver NDIS specialist behaviour supports;
  • Professional registration with AHPRA, NDIS Commission and/or similar accreditation/ membership; 
  • Maintain requirements of professional registrations, memberships and accreditations as required of your role- including CPD and supervision; 
  • Hold and maintain a current Blue Card (Working with children) and Yellow card (Positive Disability Screening check) in line legislative requirements;
  • Open C Class Driver's Licence - regular presence at various locations is required (a vehicle allowance will be provided).

Desired experience: 

  • Current knowledge of NDIS and NDIA funding processes and policies;
  • Appropriate experience working in Mental Health Sector and/or Human Services;
  • 2+ years experience in completing functional behaviour analysis and writing positive behaviour support plans;
  • Ability to work independently, autonomously, collaboratively and apply business judgement.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to build and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships;
  • Knowledge of the recovery oriented, strengths-based, client-centred and ethical decision making frameworks;
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports based on qualitative and quantitative outcomes.
  • Relevant qualification and training in delivery of Positive Behaviour Support specialised services (eligible for
    NDIS registration).
