About your opportunity

The ICU at Mount Isa Hospital is a 5 bed, mixed Intensive Care/Coronary Care/High Dependency unit that also admits critically ill paediatric and maternity patients. The ICU provides immediate resuscitative management for the critically ill, short term cardio-respiratory support and simple invasive cardiovascular monitoring. Patients admitted to ICU have a reversible condition/s that is/are likely to benefit from nursing and/or medical interventions in excess of that achievable in the general ward environment, but not of the severity that would be more appropriately managed in a higher level tertiary ICU.

This role will take responsibility to:

  • Ensure all aspects of patient care and intensive care services are of the highest standard.
  • Provide a key role in the leadership of the unit, be an accountable and autonomous nurse; act in the best interests of your patients at all times and take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions.
  • Be responsible for patient assessment, planning of care, giving and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care.

  • Proof of qualification, registration with AHPRA and a current practising certificate are mandatory requirements.
  • Experience looking after ventilated patients.
  • A Post-Graduate Certificate in Intensive Care nursing.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role.

Temporary full-time role commencing ASAP up to 31/10/2021.

Generous remuneration package value up to $9,654 p.m. comprising:

  • salary range between $3623.90 - $3880.40 p.f. (Nurse Grade 6 - Band 1)
  • annual recreational leave p.a. with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
