Senior Technical Officer, Mechanical Engineering

The Opportunity

Undertake a diverse range of specialised workshop tasks integral to the operation and success of the Central Science Laboratory.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Maintenance, repair and modification on all mechanical engineering aspects of specialist equipment in the CSL.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support and advice, including ground up design and fabrication, to researchers at the University of Tasmania and external clients.
  • Provide advice to the Operations Team Leader in regard to the CSL Technical Support Services policy and procedures and strategic direction setting, including developing and documenting recommended improvements.
  • Responsible for the procurement of tools, consumables and supplies.
Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;
  • Ability to act independently, with initiative, and possess clear decision-making skills under the guidance of the Operations Team Leader.
  • Completion of a technical level qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Knowledge and extensive experience in research and development applications.
  • Workshop management skills, including a sound understanding of planning and project administration, with a proven ability to innovate and link high level processes.

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $100,345 comprising base salary within the range of $79,093 to $85,765 plus 17% superannuation (pro-rata).
