Project Officer – Virtual Rural Generalist Service

About the role:

The role will enable expansion of the Virtual Rural Generalist Service, by implementing new service offerings and coordinating support for an extended team of Medical Officers. This includes project managing service expansion, coordinating the orientation.

This service is an innovative, unique clinical model of care, utilising one of the most developed digital health infrastructures in NSW. This service aims to further set the standard for telehealth models of care in Australia and in similar settings around the world.

The Virtual Rural Generalist Service (VRGS) has been established to provide real-time medical expert support via telehealth across 35 of Western NSW Local Health District’s rural and remote facilities. The Service provides both emergency and inpatient services via telehealth to facilities without local medical coverage. It also aims to support local Visiting Medical Officers through peak activity periods and will also assist with minimising the burdens of on-call, particularly after hours and on weekends for small facilities where there may be limited local medical coverage.
