Project RECODE is a bold initiative to create a winning product portfolio for BD – a simple and efficient portfolio that meets our customers’ needs and enables us to invest behind our winning offerings.

This is a major undertaking for the business and will require reducing the number of SKUs in our product offerings to provide customers with standardised, valuable, and robust solutions. In doing so, we will improve our efficiency and effectiveness and extend our leadership globally.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Project RECODE requires a passionate, enthusiastic, and highly collaborative person to be successful in the role. As the Clinical lead for the project, the remit covers two key areas:

Primary Scope

  • Provide precise clinical advice and guidance to customers on alternatives to the rationalised SKUs including but not limited to changes in clinical procedures and/or technique, clinical education and training
  • Working closely with the Project RECODE Marketing counterpart to provide clinical information for marketing collateral, sales and clinical resources, answering questions for the commercial team
Secondary scope
  • Assist the Sales and HEOR (Health Economics and Outcomes Research) teams with building business cases for the creation of Vascular Access Teams across ANZ using economic and clinical data
This 24-month contract role is not for the faint-of-heart. It will be highly visible and intensive, requiring close attention to detail and the ability to influence and motivate a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally.


Managing the clinical execution of Project RECODE for the MDS team, ensuring all timelines are met. Assist with localising sales and clinical resources. Overseeing approval of sales and clinical resources via the Medical, Legal and Regulatory review process. Ensuring timely planning and communication to appropriate marketing and sales personnel relating to promotional materials, sales aids and clinical education support materials. Attending local and regional Project RECODE meetings and providing status updates Setting up new product codes Coordinating with Supply Chain to ensure seamless product transitions and continuance of supply Collaborating with Regulatory Affairs to ensure new product registrations are on track to meet Project RECODE milestones Localising/developing customer communications and ensuring distribution to key stakeholders including tender boards, end users, government bodies Communicating to internal stakeholders on the progress of Project RECODE and using internal reporting tools to provide reports / analysis as requested Providing support to the MDS Marketing team on items unrelated to Project RECODE Ensure activities of the MDS portfolio are consistent with the BD core values and comply with relevant Acts, legal demands and ethical standards. Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System as maintained by BD Australia & New Zealand.

  • Registered Nurse with current APHRA registration and a minimum of 5 years post graduate clinical experience
  • High level of technical competence and clinical experience in Medication Delivery, Infusion Therapy (CVADs, PICCs, Midlines, PIVCs) as well as Infection Control practices
  • Demonstrated experience planning, managing, and completing projects within desired timelines
  • Must be enthusiastic, willing to take on new challenges and have a desire to grow and develop whilst demonstrating strong business acumen skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to deal with multiple priorities and urgent timelines. Must be able to work with multi-disciplinary teams both internally and externally to set and manage appropriate expectations
  • Self-starter able to prioritise and smoothly manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others in cross functional setting
  • High level of proficiency in all applications in the MS Office suite
  • Some weekend work may be required as will out of normal business hours work
  • Domestic travel may be required
  • Engages and aligns the organization and stakeholders to make decisions that are best for the global company, not just an individual group or unit.
