Our Communications and Development team implements the Institute's overall communications, marketing and philanthropy strategies, as well as supporting researchers, teams and projects to promote their work and achievements.

The Opportunity

As our Content Officer - Video, you will be responsible for creating diverse, engaging and high-quality content that aligns with the strategic goals of the Telethon Kids Institute, builds our external brand voice and reputation, and supports the Institute's campaign and communications initiatives.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Use research news to develop regular video content for external publications, e news and digital and social channels including social media, YouTube and the website.
  • Create engaging content to support other business units, e.g development and community fundraising, plus key communications activities across the year.
  • Produce, film and edit videos using Adobe Creative Cloud (Premier Pro).
  • Work with external providers to produce content. Provide detailed briefs and direct them to deliver the product needed.
The Role

This role will suit a recent video journalism graduate or junior video journalist. This is a full-time role reporting to the Senior Communications Officer - Media and working within the media team.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following skills/experience:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in video journalism.
  • Highly developed digital literacy, particularly video production.
  • Visual storytelling capability including writing scripts.
  • Experience in video editing.
  • Familiarity with Premiere Pro editing software.
  • A genuine interest in science and health research and how it impacts on children and families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (ability to liaise, report and coordinate across various levels of the organisation as required).
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities.
  • Flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
