About the Opportunity :

This is a newly created role and we are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to lead the creation, management and improvement of the technology platforms that service our customers, merchants and staff.

Working within our agile teams, you will collaborate with product engineering team members to design and build our technical platforms. In addition, you will lead the ongoing improvement of our platform scalability, reliability, monitoring and alerting to ensure that systems are able to support our rapidly growing customer base and product improvement objectives.

Responsibilities :

  • Take a customer-focused approach to engineering our applications
  • Support product objectives by designing appropriate system infrastructure
  • Use code to drive the adoption of automation
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of appropriate system measures (including SLIs, SLOs)
  • Improve platform reliability and resilience
  • Lead disaster recovery planning and implementation activities
  • Empower developers to create secure and reliable infrastructure
  • Support our transitions to microservices and serverless architectures
  • Support continuous delivery aspirations by improving pipelines and tooling
  • Encourage the professional growth of team members through a variety of activities, including coaching, peer feedback, code reviews
The bit about you :
  • At least five years commercial experience within an Operations/DevOps/System Administration role
  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience working within agile development environments
  • Extremely knowledgeable in relation to AWS services (VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS/Fargate, S3, Lambda, DMS, SQS, API Gateway, SageMaker, CloudWatch, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with major infrastructure automation frameworks/tools (CDK and CloudFormation preferred) and deployment using pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred)
  • Sound understanding of Windows system administration (Windows, Active Directory., Windows Server Failover Clustering, SQL Server desirable)
  • Experience deploying and managing .NET web applications and .NET application modernisation
  • Sound understanding of Serverless architectures
  • Able to build and manage container-based infrastructure using Docker
  • Experience administering and using observability tools (Datadog preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
