JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re Kanopi. Welcome.

Kanopi is one of Melbourne’s up-and-coming insurtech superstars. We believe time is everything and we are focussed on protecting every human on the planet. We are backed by global venture funds and are creating something extraordinary: the insurance infrastructure for the internet.

Our Product team is at the centre of that mission; they obsess over what our customers and partners need and want, use data to develop, test, and iterate on ideas, and work closely with our engineers and our marketing team to build features that our customers will love.

The role

We’re looking for a Product Manager with a data-driven approach, who can take our mission to be the insurance infrastructure for the internet, and help make it a reality.

Reporting to the Head of Product, you’ll get to work with teams across the business, but will work especially closely with our amazing engineers, designers and marketing team to do the unthinkable - make insurance lovable. You’ll analyse data, optimise funnels, prepare research, work on go-to-market efforts, and translate the product vision into stories for our engineers to work on.

We’re looking for someone who knows insurance, has 2+ years’ experience in product management, and wants to build on our existing product to create new features that will make insurance accessible to everyone.

There won’t be any red tape standing in your way, so if you see an issue, you’ll own the problem. This means that there is a lot of opportunity for you to be creative, proactive and hands-on.

We are looking for a superstar.

What you get to do every day

  • Gather and manage product feedback through surveys, user testing, and analytics tools.
  • Manage the product planning process - from idea, through discovery, UX and design, to creating stories for the team to work on.
  • Lead discovery work to validate new ideas and ensure we are building the right things.
  • Manage our product backlog and schedule work into development sprints.
  • Communicate effectively and create crystal clear documentation so everyone is aligned on what we’re trying to achieve and how we plan to do it.
  • Work closely with engineering and design to ship new features and iterative enhancements, and launch new partnerships to market.
  • Develop hypotheses, run experiments and analyse data to optimie user experiences.
  • Proactively propose improvements to optimise our current data, analytics and insight environments.
  • Contribute to our product vision, strategy and roadmap, while keeping an eye on competitors and market trends.
  • Link our product vision to commercial and customer outcomes, and use it to inspire team members, stakeholders and platform partners.
  • Work with the marketing team to optimise B2B and B2C funnels.
  • Manage collaboration with platform partners and other third parties.
  • Work with operations and legal to ensure compliance with insurance regulations.

What you will bring to the role

  • A creative problem solver. Challenges excite you, because you have the skills to break down a complex problem into small actions. You flourish in an agile environment, and can change your approach to fit the project.
  • A product enthusiast. You’re excited about product management and the product development lifecycle, and you actively read, watch, and listen to leaders in your field. You’re driven by curiosity, and always want to learn more about how our product works, what our users need, and the competitive landscape of insurance.
  • A data lover. You will get excited about slicing and dicing analytics, user research, survey feedback and funnel data to extract insight, learn nuances and inform experiments to create user experiences that customers love.
  • A technophile. We’re excited about the world of tech, and love to learn about what others are doing. You’ll consider technology as your toolbelt to deliver creative and delightful experiences for our users.
  • An owner. We get excited about the things we’re creating. We see opportunities, and we’re champing at the bit to make them happen; we don’t want to wait for someone else to do them. We love people who see themselves as the agents that can make things happen; owners of their work and their goals.
  • An eye for detail. As the person who translates our product vision into actionable stories for our engineering team, you’re a stickler for detail, and as a result your documentation is second to none. Nothing gets past you, which is why you’ll answer the following question in your cover letter: who is a product leader that inspires you, and why?
  • Someone socially aware. We work in a team, within a company. We work with contacts across various client companies. We talk with our clients, and really listen to their feedback. We’re always engaged with others almost all the time, so you’re not only technically capable, but have very strong communication skills.
  • A good human. We’ll be spending a lot of time together, let’s make sure we have fun!
