The Role:

Seeking a highly skilled Senior Internal Communications Adviser to join a fast-paced, engaged team in the public sector. You will be working closely with the Secretary’s office to provide strategic advice, coordination and implementation of the agency’s leadership communications.

Working with the wider internal communications team, you will ensure all leadership communications are aligned with broader strategic communications. You will have outstanding writing skills, particularly writing leadership communications, including speechwriting.

Your passion for crafting compelling content, combined with solid experience in writing for a range of audiences, will allow you to hit the ground running. Some ad hoc after-hours work may be required during busy periods. Previous experience working in the Public Sector is preferred and will be considered first. Apply now!


  • Experience dealing with senior stakeholders and managing these relationships in a public sector setting
  • Work closely with the Secretary’s office to provide strategic advice, coordination and implementation of the agency’s leadership communications
  • Drafting communications and staff messaging including speeches, staff addresses, video scripts
  • Capture the voice of the leadership team when drafting communications on their behalf
  • Assist in coordinating, developing and evaluating communication strategies and plans, and preparing associated project plans and briefings
  • Work efficiently independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision, contributing to the organisation at a broader level
  • Work within departmental messaging frameworks and comply with communications guidelines

Your Skills:

  • Deal with complex, confidential and sensitive material with a high-level of tact, discretion, judgement and attention to detail
  • Outstanding writing skills, particularly writing leadership communications, including speechwriting
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship management skills
  • Able to work on multiple projects and meet tight/conflicting deadlines
  • Actively and collaboratively contribute to a high-performing communications team which delivers outstanding results, and to constantly seek ways to improve own contribution


  • A relevant tertiary degree in Communications or Marketing
