The role with us

As a Senior Project Specialist, you develop and execute complex IT programs/projects from business case development to successful solution delivery into the production environment helping Telstra to simplify our IT systems, strengthen business resilience and ultimately maximise the value we deliver to our customers.

Your knowledge in strategising, planning, and executing complex IT programs and experience working within large-scale IT enablement teams are critical to success in this role.

Your focus on unlocking Telstra's capacity to use new and emerging ways of work and technologies as strategic business assets, influencing the way program delivery is performed across our business.

You will focus on a result driven, customer centric IT delivery and mentoring people in your team to perform at their absolute best by enabling them with best practices.

Your role is key in delivering key IT strategic programs focusing on IT resiliency and application decommissioning while championing best practices and methodologies across complex software systems, platforms, applications and phases.

As a Senior Project Specialist, you play a critical role leading IT implementation across multiple business areas using best business practices, tools and technologies using Telstra's ways of working in order to accelerate the delivery of business and customer outcomes which support Telstra's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Project Specialist, you draw on your breath of knowledge and expertise in delivering technical and business projects with deep expertise in program delivery in ICT to deliver the following responsibilities:


  • Apply deep technical and business knowledge of technology integrations and program delivery to impressively lead components of technical and business projects delivering on time, to budget, to the highest quality, achieving the intended outcomes whilst visualising the benefits and risks of a range of potential solutions
  • Provide input into project delivery requirements (e.g. timeframes, milestones, resources required), using terrific
  • analytical thinking to anticipate, uncover and resolve issues, to directly contribute to the management of their delivery workstream. This includes reporting on deliverables against the project plan and escalating unanticipated variations for approval.
  • Synthesise complex technical products, architectures and challenges into language that non-technical team
  • members and senior stakeholders understand, in order to drive project outcomes and communicate energetically and effectively across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Use a range of techniques and channels of communication and authentically engage with senior management, external partners and project team members to integrate program stakeholders vertically and horizontally to provide transparency and meet program objectives.
  • Recognised as an expert in the areas of program delivery, ICT and synthesises leading industry knowledge and trends into thought-provoking insights and delivery strategies to improve business and customer outcomes.
  • Significantly contribute to identify innovative opportunities for continuous improvement within the program team to generate and support initiatives to improve operational effectiveness, customer experience and/or Telstra's cost reduction.
