Act for Kids is a prominent provider of free prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. With over 25 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for more than 30 years. In 2019 - 2020 we provided services to 44,894 people, including over 29,000 children.

About our Townsville teams…

Based in a central location at the James Cook University, and within the Child and Family Centre of Excellence, our Townsville teams provide multidisciplinary therapy and support services for children and families who have been impacted by abuse and neglect.

About the jobs...

We are seeking expressions of interest from Psychologists / Social Workers/ Counsellors who are passionate about working with children and families, to fill a number of opportunities within our services, including:

  • Sexual Abuse Counselling Service (SACS),
  • Counselling and Intervention Service (CIS),
  • Therapy and Education Services.

Positions are available as either full-time or part-time and are subject to continued successful funding of the programs.

About you…

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Work, Counselling, Behaviour Science, or related field.
  • Current registration with the appropriate discipline specific board or relevant accreditation body.
  • Experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or experience abuse and neglect.
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy to children, young people and their families.
  • Understanding of the impacts of trauma on child and family functioning.

About the remuneration and benefits…

  • Positions are classified Level 6.1 - 6.3 under the SCHCADS award with a salary range between $90,442 – $94,437 pa plus 9.5% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time).
